Newsom has been a trainwreck for California. But he’s delusional enough to believe he’s done his state a favor. These latest allegations of taking a campaign contribution from Panera Bread won’t help.
California Gov. Gavin Newsom is now claiming Panera Bread will not be exempt from new fast food worker minimum wage laws as he fights back against allegations suggesting a major Newsom donor and Panera franchise owner received a special carve-out.
At issue is an exemption for bakery restaurants that produce and sell bread in Assembly bills 257 and 1228, which created a fast food council to enact worker protections and set a $20-per-hour minimum wage for employees at qualifying establishments.
Newsom spokesman Alex Stack on Thursday evening called the story “absurd” and said the governor never met with Flynn.
“Our legal team has reviewed and it appears Panera is not exempt from the law,” Stack said in a statement.
Bloomberg on Wednesday reported the bakery exemption came about due to the influence of Newsom donor and Panera franchisee Greg Flynn.
Newsom is unapologetically corrupt and duplicitous; like when Newsom threw a dinner party during covid lockdowns.
And is this man detached?
When you consider what Newsom said of Biden’s performance and you get an idea of how big of an idiot Californian’s must be to vote for this meathead.
But the issue that will bring Newsom down is crime.

Oakland California is one of the many hell holes in California. So much so that the “Defund the Police” crowd suddenly want more law enforcement.
Recognizing the growing problem of the criminal element, Gavin Newsom will deploy 120 California Highway Patrol (CHP) officers to the city to help curb the rash of violent and property crimes that have plagued the area over recent years.
California Gov. Gavin Newsom announced Tuesday that he is sending 120 California Highway Patrol officers to Oakland to help address rising violent crime in the city.
The officers will conduct a targeted law enforcement surge operation in Oakland and surrounding Alameda County focused on vehicle theft, retail theft and violent crime. The deployment represents a nearly 900% increase in CHP personnel for the county.
Oakland has seen violent crime rise 21%, robbery increase 38% and vehicle theft jump 45% compared with last year, according to preliminary 2023 data. That contrasts with declining crime rates in other major California cities, like Los Angeles.
Newsom’s utter disregard for public safety astounds me. And I know I’m not alone.
Last summer, members of the community spoke out against the rapidly rising rates of criminal activity in the city. The NAACP slammed the local government for failing to tackle the problem.

As I’ve said for some time, Blacks want police. However the media pretends that Blacks hate cops.
While there exists an element of Blacks who have distrust and disdain for the police, most Blacks understand the need for police more than most.
Our neighborhoods tend to be the most impacted in terms of crime and policing. So we welcome policing. However, what we don’t want is corrupt cops.
But corrupt cops are generally born of corrupt politicians and other bureaucrats. And the legacy distrust of the police by Blacks originates from the corrupt Democrat politicians of the past. The police act similarly to the military. They obey the chain of command.
As for Oakland, there is little hope.
Until Oakland addresses its crime problem, no businesses will want to set up shop. Like Denny’s and In N’ Out burger, other businesses will leave. None will replace them. And this business exodus won’t be limited to Oakland. Even the heralded San Francisco has seen chain stores leaving certain areas. Soon they will abandon the city completely, unless things change at the political level.
Republicans have a real opportunity here.
What’s happening in California happens almost everywhere Democrats are in charge. Republicans have the proof from every major city in the country. CNN reports:
These big chains and others have closed stores in major US cities recently, raising alarm about the future of retail in some of the country’s most prominent downtowns and business districts.
Several forces are pushing chains out of some city centers: a glut of stores, people working from home, online shopping, exorbitant rents, crime and public safety concerns, and difficulty hiring workers.
There exists an opportunity to make it clear that Democrats will never solve the crime problem. Meanwhile, the Republicans can present real, tangible, impactful solutions.
Trump led the way with First Step and Second Chance Acts. These real efforts resonated within the Black community because people could see the results. People with non-violent drug offenses were freed, then presented with legitimate opportunities for work. Some had their records expunged.
Unlike Obama and Biden, Trump created meaningful jobs that gave people livable wages. Others felt good enough to carve their own paths, opening businesses of their own. The economy thrived, and people felt hopeful under the Trump economy.
As Trump put it recently, [pp], “Success will be my revenge.”
Newsom may try to clean up his act, but it won’t help. Newsom is who he is. And the same is true of Trump. Who do you think America will pick if it comes down to these two?
