The Trump 2024 election victory was blunt-force trauma to the head of Leftism. So much so that some of them are actually stepping back from their usual quackery to understand what happened.
Before we get to those waking up, let’s examine the policies that led to the second worse ass-kicking in modern history.
While Trump and MAGA supporters focused on the things impacting the day to day quality of life for most Americans, Leftists were obsessed with social issues. For them, misgendering was a major “thing”. And if Leftists love protecting their freaks, that’s nothing compared to what they are willing to do for an illegal. Further, illegal criminals get even better treatment, as I’m sure the family of Laken Riley would attest.
With only those examples of the lunacy of Leftism, I’m truly shocked to hear that there remain Leftists who don’t understand how Trump won.
Even more amazing is how the Left tried to defeat Trump, ergo sanity.
The blatant use of lawfare offended even the casual political observer. For example, Alvin “Jabba” Bragg’s gyrations to turn a misdemeanor into a felony of a case that no serious litigator would have touched serves as a perfect example.
Yale University law professor Samuel Moyn admitted in a guest essay in the New York Times that the legal efforts to stop President-elect Donald Trump over the past several years not only failed, but made Trump practically invincible. .
Moreover, Moyn advised Leftists to abandon the strategy of trying to use the law to stop Trump during his second term.
“The yearslong effort to vanquish Donald Trump in court was a dismal failure,” the professor wrote.
Moyn wrote that the courts failing to end Trump’s political career shows that “our search for political salvation primarily through the law has backfired.”
Clearly, Moyn understands how the Left used lawfare to pursue a political agenda, and not to serve the purpose of taking a criminal off the streets. What’s most laughable is the Leftist approach to criminal justice that allows Hunter Biden to be free, illegals committing heinous crimes, and the many other examples, while pursuing Donald Trump on real-estate nonsense, some alleged payout to a hooker, and finally to some kook who crafted her story from an episode of Law and Order.
“While liberals saw breakthroughs afterward for women and L.G.B.T.Q. people, delivering progress more quickly than elections could, they failed to stop the conservative drift of American law,” he stated.
Specifically, Moyn criticized progressives for acting as if their use of the law was a matter of principle and justice, while “ignoring that their movement had mainly treated it as a weapon for legalistic political change.”
I won’t contend that academia is waking up, but this is a good first step. I can’t imagine that Moyn’s peers are happy about his public declaration of Leftism failing. But somebody needs to tell the emperor to put on some clothes. Oh and by the way, “You’re fat, too!”
No doubt Moyn looked at the landscape of the cases against President-elect Trump in drawing his conclusions. Ironically, The Times published Moyn’s essay on the same day that Judge Juan Merchan granted Trump’s request to file a motion to dismiss the charges in New York v. Trump. And Merchan, a vile, anti-Trumper then removed Trump’s sentencing date of Nov. 26 from the calendar. The news of Merchan’s ruling comes just days after Department of Justice Special Counsel Jack Smith filing a motion to vacate all deadlines in his 2020 election interference case against Trump. Most onlookers see the writing on the wall for this case which will almost certainly be dropped.
Recently, House of Representative Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries appeared on The View where he was asked if misogyny and racism played a part in Kamala Harris’ devastating defeat. To my surprise, he gave the right answer:
I give Jeffries credit for not taking the bait, though I know his Leftism lurked beneath his paper-thin skin. Jeffries continued,
“[T]hat basic contract between everyday Americans and the country, which is that if you work hard and play by the rules, you should be able to provide a comfortable living for yourself for your family, purchase a home, educate your children, have access to health care, go on vacation every now and then and one day be able to retire with grace and dignity. That’s the American dream, but for far too many people it’s out of reach. That shouldn’t be a Democratic or Republican issue. That’s an American issue that we should all address together.”
While we agree on this as a core issue, let’s never forget that Democrats have an evil agenda.
Mutilation of children, as well as sexualization. They tried to stop free speech and violate many other tenets of the Constitution openly and blatantly. Further, they would allow America to be overrun with illegals just to maintain power. And there are many other reasons to never let your guard down.
So while they appear to have had a “come to Jesus” moment, they are never to be trusted. Our views don’t need validation by academia (who created much of the BS we deal with today) or Leftist politicians (who helped usher in the wacko academic nonsense).
