Al Roker “uncomfortable” with Obama’s Plan B decision

The look on Al Roker’s face was priceless.

I watched with slight amusement as Mr. Roker, the gregarious weatherman on NBC’s Today Show, slowly processed the fact that the Obama Administration would no longer prevent the controversial Plan B drug from being sold to girls younger than 17 without a prescription.

A little disturbing.” Roker conceded. “I’ve got a 14-year-old daughter and I’m not comfortable with the idea that you just go and buy this. It goes to obviously other issues as well, but I think it kind of almost in a way removes the parent from part of the process.

Welcome to Real-ville, Mr. Roker. The land where fathers and mothers work tirelessly to provide for our families, strive to pass on healthy lifestyles, and protect our children from those who would do them harm.

Yet at every turn, we are undermined by radical statists who seek to replace us with big-government programs. It’s nice of you to pay us a visit. Although I imagine the longer you stay, the sooner you’ll long for the comforts of Oblivion-ville.

In the meantime, for consistency’s sake, please Mr. Roker, spare us the incredulity.

It is a widely-stated goal of the left to remove parents from the child-rearing process and replace them with the power of the state. Remember your colleague over at MSNBC, Melissa Harris-Perry recently schooled us Real-ville citizens on the dichotomy between parental and governmental roles in the lives of our children:

We have to break through our kind of private idea that kids belong to their parents, or kids belong to their families, and recognize that kids belong to whole communities.”

For over 100 years the family has been a target. And what better way to deconstruct society’s foundational institution than by eliminating parents from decisions that affect the health and well-being of their children?

So, Mr. Roker, you say you feel “uncomfortable with the idea”? What a shame that it took this radical step by the Obama Administration to awaken your paternal instincts and make you realize that the government has placed a bulls-eye on your relationship with your daughter.

Was it not enough that this administration nationalized the healthcare industry and removed you as the final authority over what type of healthcare you choose for yourself and your family?

Has it ever occurred to you that the Obama Administration’s zealous support of Planned Parenthood that openly promotes early sexualization of our children might actually seep into the consciousness of your young impressionable daughter?

And you’ve not taken note that despite the lack of demand for a large government-scale preschool program, Obama has earmarked nearly 80 billion in taxpayer dollars for the expressed purpose of eliminating parental involvement during the child’s formative years?

You see, Al Roker, this effort to replace your parental role is nothing new. It’s part of an ongoing strategic effort by progressives to reinforce the “cradle to the grave” mentality.

Whether it’s in our schools, in our doctor’s office or even at the local pharmacy, as far as the Left is concerned, the less parental involvement, the better.
