There’s one surefire way to stop Republicans from winning in 2024, and that is to keep Trump off the ballot.
Democrats identified that reality the moment Joe Biden first showed off his presidential abilities. There is no way in hell that even Democrats would want to deal with this guy twice. Because Joe Biden takes incompetent to a whole new level.
When you put Biden’s dismal record against Trump’s four years of winning, it’s a no-brainer. The powers-that-be are so scared of Trump’s return, they’ve resorted to this slew of trumped-up charges and illegitimate arrests. Sadly, it’s not even a clever strategy. It’s just what you expect from the left.
Their latest argument is that in light of these arrests, Trump should be banned from the ballot. You can expect to hear that argument from here until the ballots are finalized. Why? Because a Trump ballot scares the crap out of Democrats– which is why this latest move is so upsetting to the left.
As Fox News reports:
The top election official in New Hampshire says he won’t invoke the 14th Amendment of the U.S. Constitution in order to block former President Donald Trump from the ballot in the state that holds the first primary in the Republican nominating calendar.
New Hampshire Secretary of State Dave Scanlan on Wednesday also announced that the filing period for the 2024 presidential primary will start on Oct. 11 — meaning it’s nearly all but certain the date of the contest will lead to a collision with the Democratic National Committee (DNC).
I’m not sure what’s worse to watch- the desperate Dems or that back-stabbing RINOs that let their jealousy of Trump overtake their common sense.
Luckily, their efforts to sway the ballot failed.
At the news conference at the state house in Concord, called in part to address legal efforts by some Republicans in New Hampshire to prevent the former president from getting his name on the 2024 ballot, Scanlan said that as long as Trump “submits his declaration of candidacy and signs it under the penalties of perjury, pays the $1,000 filing fee, his name will appear on the presidential primary ballot.”
“That language is not discretionary,” Scanlan emphasized.
Bryant “Corky” Messner, an attorney and prominent Republican who won the 2020 Republican Senate nomination thanks in great part to Trump’s support, was mulling a lawsuit if Trump filed to put his name on the ballot.
Messner was very publicly questioning the former president’s eligibility to run for the White House, and cited Section 3 of the 14th Amendment of the U.S. Constitution. That section disqualifies those who’ve taken an oath to support the Constitution from holding office again if they’ve “engaged in insurrection or rebellion” against the U.S. “or given aid or comfort to the enemies thereof.”
Separate from Messner’s move, John Anthony Castro — a Texas-based attorney who’s running an extreme long-shot bid for the GOP presidential nomination — filed a lawsuit in a New Hampshire court that aimed to keep Trump off the primary ballot.
Constitutional Crazies
Ironically, there is an entire group of people hoping to use the 14th Amendment to keep Trump off the ballot, arguing that he engaged in a rebellion or insurrection against the US Government. I say ‘ironic’ because that’s exactly the amendment President Joe Biden considered using as a way to lift the borrowing cap of our debt ceiling without going through Congress.
Several liberal lawmakers in both chambers pushed the President to invoke the amendment because they didn’t want to give in to Republican demands to cut spending and tighten work requirements. Among them were Bernie Sanders and Elizabeth Warren. No surprise there. Clearly, balancing a budget with smart principles and American values doesn’t exactly fit the leftist approach.
Eventually, all of this will be hammered out by the Supreme Court, mark my words. Until then, it looks like Trump is ON the ballot, at least in New Hampshire. But leftists need not worry- their leaders are precariously scrambling to put together their next big cheat. I’m sure we’ll see a sneak preview of their upcoming move soon enough.
