It’s nice to have signs that the pendulum is swinging back to sanity. Because over the last decade or so, we have watched “woke” get to crazy levels.
Sadly, the people selling “woke”, aka Leftists use our money to implement their insanity on the public.
Their minions, media, social media, and academia convince regular people to lose their sanity and buy into the nonsense.
Worst of all, Leftists use the government to steal our money thus giving themselves endless supply of funding to add to their now endless supply of fools.
But the world is changing back to normal, slowly but surely.
Evidenced by a recent survey from Intelligent. The survey found that 3 in 10 college students or recent graduates had job offers rescinded. Why? As a result of their “pro-Palestine” activism.
The group surveyed 672 students or recent college graduates who have engaged in anti-Israel activism. They found that 29% of them had a job offer rescinded in the past six months. Further, 55% of them believe there was bias against them in the hiring process because of their activism.
It appears the sword cuts both ways, because I know many horror stories of Conservatives being targeted for
There is much an employer can’t ask about, but apparently “activism” remains on the plate. At least for now.
The survey revealed that 7 in 10 pro-Palestine activists said they were asked about their protest history during the interview process.
I find this difficult to believe, given the specificity of the question.
I can see someone asking, “Do you protest for various causes?” But to ask specifically about pro-Palestine protests says more about the group performing the survey than it does about the supposed results.
Put another way, would companies ask Black applicants if they protested the death of Michael Brown, Jr or George Floyd?
Frankly, I would love for a company to ask these types of questions. I consider it a litmus test for conservatism. If you would protest either of those Black thugs, I wouldn’t hire you. And if you protest in support of terrorists, I wouldn’t hire you.
I believe this type of scrutiny will escalate, and rightfully so. Who wants to hire people with such jacked up priorities.
Intelligent Chief Education and Career Development Advisor Huy Nguyen said that the results are consistent with other studies.
“It’s consistent with another study that we performed where employers expressed concerns that hiring protestors and strongly vocal activists might cause distractions and disruptions in the workplace and negatively impact their workplace,” Nguyen said.
“Might cause distractions and disruptions”? These types of employees are distraction and disruption carriers. That’s in their raison d’etre. It’s no wonder the survey reported that 21% of those surveyed also reported negative feedback from potential employers about their activism and 14% either had job offers withdrawn or not extended.
No person is a monolith. We are products of vast and varied environments. So perhaps we shouldn’t be measured by one mistake. But when your value system is so distorted, the one-time forgiveness rule can be overlooked.
Employees today, particularly young Leftists have lost their sensibilities and ability to reason. And just in time for the cooling job market.
As CBS reports, Biden’s economy may not be as good as he advertises.
After earning their college degrees this month, new graduates are understandably eager to land their first job and start making their education pay off. But that could pose more of a challenge this year than in 2023.
Hiring for freshly minted college grads is forecast to decline 6% from a year earlier, according to a recent survey of more than 200 employers from the National Association of Colleges and Employers, a group representing college career services employees.
Data from payroll services provider Gusto also shows that the new grad hiring rate — the share of recent graduates who are hired in a given month — is now about 6%, down from a recent peak of 10% in 2021. Still, the hiring rate is about level from a year earlier, with Gusto principal economist Liz Wilke telling CBS MoneyWatch that the job market for new grads is relatively stable.
And while Bidenflation is killing raises, what about the minimum wages that impact first-time job offers?
If you pay a menial laborer, $32,000 a year, then what salary must a college grad require? As it turns out, we don’t have to know. Because 40% of college grads are underemployed. The article reveals,
Securing that first job out of college may be a rite of passage, but it can also be nerve-racking for young adults who need to pay for groceries and make the rent. And about 4 in 10 recent college grads are currently “underemployed,” meaning they’re working in a job that doesn’t require a college degree, according to data from the Federal Reserve Bank of St. Louis.
“We know that the first job out of college is incredibly important when setting the course for the rest of a person’s career,” Wilke said. “However, not every college graduate is going to enter a booming job market, and some are not afforded the option of being picky.”
Chasing a degree.
The problem with higher ed is they want people chasing degrees and not passions. For example, according to Gusto, the top five industries currently hiring new college grads are legal, nonprofits, arts and entertainment, health care, and social assistance and construction. So you know that many kids will read this, and decide to pursue a degree where they hope to get a job in 4 years?
“New grads with skills that are applicable to these industries are likely to see increased interest in their resumes,” Wilke noted.
What about the others? Truth be told, many people will need to rethink how they earn a living. AI has already sounded the alarm bell on many industries. And it only beginning, as AI will soon take on more sophisticated tasks.
As a result, some industries are planning to cut back on the number of new hires from the class of 2024, the National Association of Colleges and Employers found in its survey. Unbelievably, computer and electronics manufacturers project a decline of about 12% in hires of new grads. Additionally, financial firms expect an almost 15% drop, the group found.
And there are more examples. But suffice it to say, at some point students will need to spend less time complaining about every Leftist wet-dream the Democrat propaganda machine can conger and focus on their careers.
As we can clearly see, the new world will require real talent. And activist jobs won’t be on the list.
