Joy Reid’s Firing: The Ironic End of a Race-Baiting Era and the Death of Woke Grift

When I wrote Race Pimping, I thought I was penning a satirical manifesto, a tongue-in-cheek guide for white folks to hop on the racism gravy train. Little did I know, it would become a prophetic blueprint for the absurdities we’re witnessing today. The book was a joke—until it wasn’t. And now, with Joy Reid’s unceremonious firing from MSNBC, it feels like the punchline has finally landed.

Let’s rewind for a moment. Remember Rachel Dolezal?

The white woman who decided she was Black? At the time, I thought her antics were the ultimate George Floyd moment for white people—a chance to cash in on racial drama. But instead of celebrating her audacity, white folks collectively clutched their pearls. How dare a white woman try to be Black! Shouldn’t that have been the ultimate compliment? MLK Jr. dreamed of a world where people wouldn’t be judged by the color of their skin, but here was a white woman literally trying to live that dream, and she got toasted (pun intended) for it.

Dolezal could’ve written the foreword to Race Pimping. She embodied the spirit of the book: Be as Black as you want to be, and do it proudly. Affirmative action money? Get yours, girl! But no, instead of embracing her, the woke mob canceled her. The irony is thicker than a bowl of gumbo.

Fast forward to today, and we’re seeing the collapse of the DEI (Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion) industrial complex.

President Trump’s swamp-draining efforts have left race pimps like Joy Reid scrambling. And let’s be honest, Reid’s firing wasn’t just a dismissal—it was a full-on “get the f*ck out” moment. MSNBC didn’t even bother with the usual corporate niceties. They just showed her the door.

What’s even more deliciously ironic is the timing. Reid, who spent years mocking “Karens” and their “white tears,” was reduced to her own tearful goodbye.

“My show mattered!” she declared. Uh, not so much, Joy. The show offered  a case study in how to monetize racial grievance…at the taxpayers’ expense.

And then there’s Rachel Maddow, rushing to Reid’s defense and accusing MSNBC of racism.

Oh, the irony! Maddow, the queen of performative wokeness, now cries foul because her fellow race pimp got the boot. Maybe she should tread carefully—she might find herself in Round 2 of the purge.

Let’s not forget the broader context here. Less than two weeks after USAID was defunded, a slew of leftist hosts on CNN and MSNBC found themselves out of a job. Coincidence? I think not. These networks were essentially subsidizing their multi-million-dollar salaries with taxpayer dollars, all while peddling DEI commie propaganda. Billions of dollars were spent promoting racism, sexism, and every other -ism under the sun, and what do we have to show for it? A world that’s more divided—and more dangerous—than ever.

But here’s the good news: “Woke” is dying.

The DEI grift is collapsing under the weight of its own hypocrisy. Take Ibram X. Kendi’s “Center for Antiracist Research,” for example. The center raked in tens of millions of dollars in grants but produced virtually no meaningful work. Now it’s shutting down and laying off its staff. Another BLM-era grift bites the dust.

And then there’s Jasmine Crockett, the Left’s new poster child for racism. She’s managed to make Hank Johnson—the Congressman who famously worried that Guam might tip over if too many troops were stationed there—look like a genius. Crockett’s rise is a testament to how low the bar has fallen.

But let’s get back to Joy Reid.

America is a better place with her off the air. She delivered every opinion through the prism of racism, infecting far too many non-thinkers with her toxic rhetoric. I’m convinced that if MSNBC hadn’t been propped up by outside funding, she would’ve been gone long ago. Even leftist white folks tire of being talked down to about race continually.

In the end, Reid’s firing is a microcosm of a larger cultural shift. The race-baiting, grievance-mongering, and DEI grift that defined the last decade are finally being called out for what they are: a scam. And as much as the woke mob might cry foul, the truth is undeniable.

So, here’s to Joy Reid’s tearful exit and the beginning of the end for the race pimps. As President Trump would say, “We are winning!” And for those still clinging to the DEI gravy train, I’ll leave you with this: The party’s over. Time to find a new grift.
