The Democrats’ National Guard Problem
Do people really understand what it means that the National Guard has been deployed to Memphis? For decades, Democrats have laughed off law-and-order solutions, preferring “community conversations” about systemic racism while their policies allowed crime to fester like gangrene. But now? This is nothing less than a political kick in the ass for the Democrats.
The irony is delicious: Democrats spent years daring President Trump to take bold action on crime, believing he wouldn’t touch their “sacred cow” cities. Well, as Doc Holliday put it in Tombstone, “I’m your huckleberry.” Trump happily took the dare… and walked them into a trap.
Let’s map out the strategy.
Trump’s Crime Chess Match
Trump didn’t stumble into this fight. He recognized that crime, like the border, is a top-tier national issue. Unlike Democrats, who turn every crisis into a “study” or “task force,” Trump knows something they don’t: most problems can be solved simply by action. In the case of crime: enforcing the law.
Here are the layers of his strategy:
-
First, he knew that crime is out of control and has been for decades, almost entirely in Democrat-run cities.
-
Second, he knew the solution is obvious. More police—or if necessary, the National Guard—means less crime, immediately.
-
Third, he knew Democrats would get exposed, because the communities most harmed are Black and Latino neighborhoods. Lowering crime equals saving lives in urban minority areas—something Democrats pretend to care about.
-
Fourth, he knew crime “statistics” were already rigged by Leftist bureaucracies. Every time Dems boast of “lower crime rates,” you can bet they just downgraded felonies on paper or looked the other way.
-
Fifth, he knew Democrats would push propaganda instead of solutions. Cue the parade of woke fact-checkers and city mayors claiming, “We’ve got this under control,” while people bleed out in the streets.
Knowing the script, Trump called their bluff.
Washington, DC: The Test Case
Trump’s first target was Washington, DC. Imagine having the stones to take on a Black female Leftist mayor in the most Left-sympathetic city in America. Muriel Bowser didn’t know what hit her. Crime was spiraling, carjackings skyrocketing, businesses fleeing. Trump sends in the troops.
Outcome: instant success. Within days, neighborhoods calmed. Residents felt safer. Even Bowser, who spent years trashing Trump, asked if the troops could stay.
That was checkmate number one. The Left’s worst nightmare had been proven: enforcing the law is popular, effective, and makes their excuses evaporate overnight.
Chicago: Enter Brandon Johnson
Next up was Chicago, America’s long-time murder capital disguised as a “progressive paradise.” Trump set his sights on Mayor Brandon Johnson. Johnson, a walking caricature of empty rhetoric, cried foul immediately. He accused Trump of political showboating, only to run crying to his white governor for backup.
They both lied about the stats—no surprise—and claimed, smugly, “We actually have a plan!” Too bad their plan had been in action for decades, and the only thing it accomplished was generations of funerals.
This is the Democrat playbook: ignore crime, dismiss concern, vilify police, and then act shocked when criminals act like… criminals.
Johnson has been mayor of Chicago since May of 2023. He’s had plenty of time to make Chicago safer. Trump deployed troops in DC only weeks ago, and the change is dramatic.
New Orleans, Memphis, and Triggered Mayors
Meanwhile, Trump’s strategy put New Orleans in the spotlight, a city where the mayor is already under FBI investigation for fraud. Another easy target, another paper tiger. But the real twist came when the media themselves accidentally handed Trump his next gift: Memphis.
When national outlets rolled out their “Top 10 most dangerous cities” report—and Memphis landed at number one—the pressure built. Leftist mayors started whining, essentially asking: “Why is Trump focusing on Chicago and New Orleans when Memphis is the crime capital?”
Eventually, all the cities mentioned that Memphis was number one in crime, and just like that, they inadvertently gave Trump the greenlight on a silver platter.
The same Democrats who mocked the very idea of National Guard deployments had just begged for the number-one crime city to get troops.
Checkmate number two. Trump sends in the Guard, and citizens flooded the streets to welcome them.

Crowds cheered—not protests, not riots. Actual relief.

Why This Terrifies Democrats
So now the question becomes: how long does it take to bring order to Memphis? If Washington, DC is any measure, weeks—maybe less. That’s it.
In less than a month, Trump could prove what Democrats spent decades denying: crime is solvable, fast, and without billion-dollar “reform packages” or endless task-force whitepapers.
And when Memphis flips from number one to stable? Guess what: the spotlight shifts to the next city.
Suddenly the number two crime city becomes number one, and those mayors will be under fire from their own citizens. People won’t sit around listening to lectures about “root causes” anymore. They’ll demand results. And the governors will have no choice but to comply.
Democrats’ Worst Nightmare: Accountability
This cascade sets up the ultimate political disaster for Democrats. Their favorite excuse—that crime is “complicated”—dies instantly. Crime isn’t complicated. It’s about enforcement, deterrence, and accountability. Trump proves this by example.
The Oakland mayor illustrated the hypocrisy perfectly. She complained that her city shouldn’t even be in the Top 10, maybe #17, as if that’s a brag. Then she rattled off “strategies” that never worked. Translation: Don’t blame us, we’re working on it!
Here is an example where she proudly proclaimed that Oakland would not help ICE round up violent illegals:

Too late. Once one city demonstrates rapid success, every excuse rolls straight into the garbage.
The Hidden Agenda: Money
There’s an even deeper fear lurking for Democrats. Historically, these Democrat-run cities use crime as a cash cow. Federal “justice grants,” bloated public safety budgets, and endless community mediator programs funnel billions into bureaucratic hands. None of it works—by design.
But when Trump proves that you can run cities with less money and more actual results, that gravy train derails. And once cities see results without the Left’s taxpayer-funded scams, Democrats are cornered.
They won’t be able to claim “systemic inequity” or “lack of resources,” because Trump showed the solution didn’t come from more money—it came from willpower and leadership.
Conclusion: Trump, the Reluctant Savior
There is something poetic about all of this. Decades of Democrat “social engineering,” but by soldiers standing on corners preventing theft, assault, and murder.
As the saying goes: results don’t lie. Democrats do.
This has all the makings of one of the greatest political reversals in modern American history. Democrats begged Trump to stay out of their cities. Now their constituents are begging him to come in.
And it turns out Trump didn’t need years of committees, reams of studies, or billions in “equity programs.” He just needed the will to enforce the law. For Democrats, that’s worse than failure. It’s humiliation for them.
Trump’s genius wasn’t just deploying the National Guard—it was letting Democrats talk themselves into the trap. He gave them permission to prove him right. And now, city by city, the myth of Democrat governance is crumbling in real time.
