Susan Rice: “Trump should have properly vetted Michael Flynn”

Leave it to the Left to put Susan Rice on national television to lecture Americans on responsibility and national security.

In a recent interview with CNN, Rice had the audacity to declare the Trump administration irresponsible. The claim centered around the vetting of Michael Flynn.

Rice’s comments come after White House press secretary Sean Spicer deflected blame for Flynn’s senior role by saying Flynn received his security clearance in the Obama administration.

Susan Rice lies with ease. Recall she denied Trump’s claims about illegal wiretaps and other surveillance. In an interview with PBS on March 22, Rice commented:

“I do not know anything about this.”

Later we learned from House Intelligence chairman, Devin Nunes, that Rice indeed was the person who unmasked the identities of Trump and people in his administration.

Yet, Rice told host Fareed Zakaria on CNN’s “GPS” Sunday:

“First of all, a former military officer such as General Flynn, who wants to retain his security clearance, would go through a process with his home agency, in this case the Defense Intelligence Agency, to have his clearance reviewed and renewed,” Rice said.

Rice says the renewal happens at a “routine level” not a “political level.”

She implies that Flynn needed to go through more vetting than “routine level,” given his political appointment.

Again, Flynn received clearance by the Obama administration. Rice unknowingly reinforces that fact when she says,

“The Trump administration, like every previous administration, had an expectation and an obligation to vet, to their satisfaction, those individuals that the president was appointing to high positions, which is a separate and much more elaborate process than a security clearance,” she continued. “It gets into the financial information…your relationships and contacts. It gets into your behavior. It’s a much deeper vet than what is done solely for the purpose of a security clearance.”

Interestingly, nobody in the Obama administration could pass a security clearance in the Trump administration.

Certainly Rice would not.

Rice claimed on national TV that Syria got rid of their chemical weapons.

We were able to find a solution that didn’t necessitate the use of force that actually removed the chemical weapons that were known from Syria, in a way that the use of force would never have accomplished. Our aim in contemplating the use of force following the use of chemical weapons in August of 2013 was not to intervene in the civil war, not to become involved in the combat between Assad and the opposition, but to deal with the threat of chemical weapons by virtue of the diplomacy that we did with Russia and with the Security Council. We were able to get the Syrian government to voluntarily and verifiably give up its chemical weapons stockpile.

We now know from the recent Syrian gas attacks that Rice lied about this. Did she vet this information?

Flynn didn’t need vetting. What he needed was his rights protected, and not to spied on by his own government.
