Stevie Wonder made news when he called out Black Lives Matter.

His common sense turned into controversial comments were made at a North Minneapolis peace summit. The event focused on ending youth gun violence.

We wrote of the event at the time,

He was child of the ’60s, who grew up with the handicap of being black when Democrats ruled America.

The fact that Wonder is blind provides an interesting backdrop to the story of a man who has never seen the color of anybody’s skin. Therefore, Wonder can judge on the content of one’s character. In fact, that’s all he has to judge people on.

So when the music legend called out Black Lives Matter, it’s a big deal. And according to The Blaze, Wonder judged black leftists recently on the content of their character.

In the wake of former police officer Jeronimo Yanez’s controversial manslaughter acquittal after fatally shooting Philando Castile — a black man — during a traffic stop last year, music legend Stevie Wonder had blunt words for some in the Black Lives Matter movement.

“It is in your hands to stop all the killing and all the shooting wherever it might be,” Wonder told the crowd at the North Minneapolis Conference on Peace last weekend. “Because you cannot say, ‘Black Lives Matter’ and then kill yourselves. Because you know that we’ve mattered long before it was said, but the way we show that we matter — the way that we show that all the various people of color matter — is by loving each other and doing something about it, not just talking about it.”

Kevin Jackson appeared with Jamila Taylor to discuss the comments:

The major discussion centered on holding black people accountable for the amount of criminality in the black community, particularly against other blacks.

In the wake of the controversy, Wonder walked back his statement a bit. Other black “leaders” attempted to provide clarification. But the die was cast.

Kevin Jackson commented that, like pre-Trump Bill Cosby (the respected man) discussing sagging in the black community, Wonder’s comments on BLM were correct. Jackson argued that many blacks feel the same way about the Black Lives Matter organization, and we should have honest discussions about these issues. However, like Cosby, Wonder was ostracized.

Jackson’s point was how difficult it is for the black community to offer reason and logic in the discussion of cultural issues, when the backlash comes so quickly, and so vitriolic.

Those wishing to help blacks break this vicious cycle must let them know they have many people who back them up.
