‘Big Tent’ Democratic Party DISCRIMINATES This Group

I’m a former die-hard, big-mouth, liberal Democrat activist.

I demexited and voted for Donald Trump in the last election.

Prior to that, I always thought the Democrats were the “big tent” party. Whatever the Democrats said was “gospel” to me.

I’m embarrassed to admit it, but that was all it took.

With new optics in place however, I could clearly see the Dem Party is pretty much the “my way or my other way” party. To remain part of the club, you must buy into absolutely everything they believe, exactly how they believe it. To do otherwise, makes you a traitorous POS that should be hung in effigy.

By “hung in effigy” I mean things like a long-time Facebook friend who threatened to send me anthrax in the mail when she learned I voted for then-candidate Trump. With the Dems, it’s always something-or-bust. The Left pathologically fear independent thinking.

A couple of months back, Bernie Sanders made headlines for campaigning for a pro-life Nebraska Democratic mayoral candidate, Heath Mello. The campaign event was part of the DNC’s “unity tour” (you know, that thing where DNC chair Tom Perez and Bernie Sanders joined forces and hung out in random venues around the country with the hope of dragging reluctant Bernie supporters/Demexiters back into the fold.

The folks at NARAL weren’t happy campers that Bernie would support a pro-life candidate.

So, they blasted Bernie for being “politically stupid.”

One commented,”if Democrats think the path forward following the 2016 election is to support candidates who substitute their own judgement and ideology for that of their female constituents, they have learned all the wrong lessons and are bound to lose.”  [Um, hate to belabor the obvious, but Dems have already lost – and lost and lost.  But I digress.]  Responded Bernie,

The truth is that in some conservative states there will be candidates that are popular candidates who may not agree with me on every issue. I understand it. That’s what politics is about . . .

And now the DNC finds itself in a bit of a pickle.

According to Gallup, most Americans are picking the middle in terms of abortion rights. Slightly more Americans consider themselves pro-choice than anti-choice, but the margins are close.

So the DNC has a choice here.

Democrats can open their tent. Allow some discord on issues like abortion. Or, they can continue “identity politics.” Thus, they continue to demand litmus tests on every damn issue. In other words, they will keep losing.

Given their history under Obama, the Dems should be scrambling to add sane members to the base. Yet, they remain tone-deaf to the needs of the country, and obsess with nonsense like transgender potties.

Are times “a changin?”

This week, pro-life Dems from Democrats for Life of America met with Perez at the DNC and made some demands.

As reported by The Atlantic,

In addition to a request for a statement direct from Perez that the party does not have a litmus test, Democrats for Life’s list calls for the party to make resources available to support pro-life Democrats. The list asks for ‘the establishment of a Democratic Pro-Life Political Action Committee to be used specifically to support pro-life Democratic candidates.’ It also requests that the 2020 Democratic Party platform be ‘inclusive to Democrats who oppose abortion,’ and calls for eliminating language currently in the 2016 platform ‘opposing the Hyde Amendment.’

At one time, Perez said he didn’t think the DNC should demand fealty on every issue. However, after the Mello backlash he got very frightened of offending the powers-that-be. Therefore, in typical political fashion, he folded like a cheap suit.

Perezissued a statement that “every Democrat, like every American, should support a woman’s right to make her own choices about her body and her health . . . That is not negotiable and should not change city by city or state by state.”

Thus the Democrats chart the same destructive course.

As cruxnow.com noted,

It would be impossible to listen to the case studies and statistical-demographic writing on the wall offered at this meeting, and not come away with a strong sense that the Democratic Party needs to fundamentally rethink its relationship with NARAL-style abortion orthodoxy. It has killed the party in the past, it is killing the party today, and spells doom for the party’s future with young people.

Democrats are stuck. They refuse to consider alternatives, even as their party endures hell.

It’s their way or the highway…to straight to hell.
