Smollett Says Chicago PD ‘Over-Investigated’ his Hoax

Jussie Smollett gives America a new term in policing: “over-investigating”.

That’s what he claims Chicago PD did when investigating his completely fabricated LIE about two Trump supporters attacking him in the Windy City.

Disgraced actor and hate crime hoaxer Jussie Smollett is still trying to skirt responsibility for his actions. This time, he wants to see a civil suit against him dismissed. However, the City of Chicago is adamant that Smollett reimburse the fees of the investigation surrounding his fake crime.

According to the Chicago Sun Times:

Attorneys for Smollett deny the actor made up the attack, and note charges were ultimately dropped by Cook County State’s Attorney Kim Foxx.

“My client from the beginning has maintained his innocence and disputed the city’s allegations,” said William J. Quinlan, of The Quinlan Law Firm, who filed the motion. He noted that “it’s going to be very difficult for the city to prevail in making a case my client should pay for overtime for a case ultimately dismissed by the state’s attorney.

“It’s ridiculous and a stretch to require him to do so.”

Leave it to the Lawyers

This is the reason we have so many lawyer jokes. The entire country knows the truth, and still these legal eagles try to spin the story.

Sadly, these lawyers have the audacity to claim Smollett is innocent, despite the fact that the story unraveled publicly, and he is widely recognized as a liar. And just in case the court recognizes Smollett’s dishonesty, the lawyers have a laughable reason why their client shouldn’t cough up the $130,000 the city lost.

…the latest court filing contends even if Smollett did make a false report, there is no way the city can assert he would have known the city would investigate — and investigate it to the extent cops did.

“We contend the city is wrong,” Quinlan said of the city’s assertion that Smollett should have known the police would log nearly 2,000 hours in overtime trying to resolve the case. “ … The mere fact somebody filed a police report doesn’t presume the investigation will be done and certainly not to the extent of what the city is claiming.”

He added: “Smollett has no control over that.”

No control? Imagine the fallout had police not investigated? Because they smelled a rat pretty early on.

Sticking to the Story

It’s almost comical to watch Smollett cling to his lies months after the facts- after the police pieced together the hoax, the brothers confirmed Smollett’s plan, Smollett barely escaped a jail sentence, even after Empire came crashing down!

In the legal brief, obtained by Sneed, Smollett makes clear that he “disputes any and all assertions that he made a false statement and was not a victim of a crime.”

But even if he did, “The filing of a police report, in and of itself, does not necessitate a sprawling investigation nor does it, as a practical matter, usually result in an investigation as extensive as the one the CPD chose to undertake in this case,” the motion says.

It goes on to say the city “has failed to allege that Mr. Smollett was similarly ‘well aware’ that his statements to police would result in 1,836 hours of police overtime, or any other reasons why he should have known this would have been the case.”

In other words, it’s OK to go to the police and tell a big fat lie without consequences. Because it’s safe to assume police don’t a actually do their jobs.

The Kim Connection

Further, Smollett’s lawyers skewed Cook County State’s Attorney Kim Foxx’s decision to drop charges against their client. Apparently, since Kim didn’t go for the juglar, Smollett is off the hook.

Do they think we’ve forgotten the Kim Foxx connection to this case? Kevin Jackson immediately spotted Smollett’s hoax, long before the police confirmed his suspicions.

Afterward, he thoroughly covered the scandal step by step. Here’s what Kevin had to say about Kim Foxx:

Try to imagine the hubris one must have to believe you can sweep this story under the rug. And that’s what Kim Foxx attempted to do.

They plotted to seal the documents in the Smollett case. Apparently he got people like Michelle Obama to pull a few strings. Then, Foxx recanted, claiming to have inadvertently sealed the case.

But that’s not the only “moonwalking” Foxx now attempts.

As it turns out, Foxx hadn’t exactly recused herself as reported. As ABC Chicago explains:

Cook County State’s Attorney Kim Foxx defended her office’s decision to drop all charges against “Empire” actor Jussie Smollett…

“I believe this is a just outcome based on the circumstances.” Foxx said on Wednesday, a day after the charges were dropped.

Afterward, Foxx’s claims of recusal turned out to be false.

Foxx said it is not uncommon for her to speak to victims and their families.

“The family had reached out, I think to me, largely because they didn’t have a connection to the police department, asking if there was a way to make sure that the leaks in the case were to a minimum,” Foxx said.

Foxx added: “I don’t want any speculation or concern. I don’t even want the appearance, that my involvement with this case, now having talked to a family member, would in any way impede this investigation.”

But there’s another little tidbit Smollett’s lawyers hope everyone forgot.

The Obama Link

Here is where the Obama connection occurred. Because like her husband, Michelle Obama interfered in a crime,

She [Foxx] was connected to the family through Tina Tchen, the former chief of staff to Michelle Obama.

In a statement, Tchen said: “I know members of the Smollett family based on prior work together. Shortly after Mr. Smollett reported his attack, as a family friend, I contacted Cook County State’s Attorney Kim Foxx, who I also know from prior work together. My sole activity was to put the chief prosecutor in the case in touch with an alleged victim’s family who had concerns about how the investigation was being characterized in public.”  (read more)

What Tchen attempted to do was persuade the public to believe the most nonsensical story next to the Steele dossier. And for what reason? To protect a non-deserving scum-bag from prosecution.

Clearly, Smollett learned nothing. He doesn’t seem to care how his actions affect others. If he did, Smollett would ante up the $130,000 spent on his lies and put his apology in with the cash. Instead, he’s still pretending to be the Hollywood elite. Reports show Smollett is still hanging out with Empire cast members. Further, he’s even managed to party above his pay grade, supposedly with former A-lister Janet Jackson. Meanwhile, Smollett’s attorneys do his dirty work.

While Quinlan believes the lawsuit should be thrown out, he puts the impetus for its filing not on city attorneys but on then Mayor Rahm Emanuel.

“This lawsuit was only filed by the former mayor … out of frustration for the state’s attorney dismissing the charges,” said Quinlan.

Wow. Leftists seek outrage for Mayor Emanuel. Apparently his attempts to protect city resources are pathetically misplaced.

Actually, I can’t help buy wonder how many leftists will soon latch onto the latest liberal buzz-word: over-investigated. Especially now that democrats find themselves in the hot seat.
