Captain Demento rolled out his “Demented Liar” fashion line during what the media called the State of the Union. During his performance, we learned what in the new Spring lineup.
First, Trump-wear is temporarily out of vogue. Biden identified the replacement for Trump-wear for Spring couture, as he rolled out his line called “Batter Putin”.
Biden spent a full ten minutes explaining, “Russia bad…or was that Iran bad?” Who knows what Biden was thinking, given that he doesn’t seem to know what he’s thinking.
The man who provoked Putin into war, got exactly what he wanted. Now he needs the world to dig him out of this mess, and hopefully improve his prospects for the 2022 midterms. Democrats know they can’t possibly manufacture a win without the polls shifting.
Another part of the the Demented Liar Spring Fashion line involves Big Oil.
Biden models were soaked in the black liquid, as Biden explained how he tapped the Strategic Petroleum Reserves (again) in order to help keep oil on the market. Joey Green Weenie is tapping another 30 million barrels of black gold. But he didn’t fool me.
Note that Captain Demento didn’t announced that he was releasing 30 million rays of SUNSHINE from the SPR. I’m guessing solar energy wouldn’t solve any of our existing problems here?
Further, Captain Demento didn’t say he was releasing 30 million gallons of WATER from the Strategic Water Reserves. If Speaker Nancy Pelosi is any indicator, she prefers to starve farmers of water while she uses it to keep the bait fish wet for her husband’s tuna business.
Captain Demento didn’t say he was releasing 30 million WINDMILLS from the Strategic Wind Reserves. No, Joey Green Weenie released dirty, black oil.
Where is the outcry from AOC and others on this news?
Are you aware that Biden tapped the SPR LAST YEAR? Reserves that are earmarked for “emergencies” were released because of the price of gasoline.
As CNN reported:
Joe Biden on Tuesday announced the release of emergency oil reserves to combat high energy prices ahead of the busy holiday travel season, but it will be weeks before the barrels hit the market.
The Department of Energy will release 50 million barrels of oil from the Strategic Petroleum Reserve, according to the White House — the largest release from the reserve in US history, Biden said.
Biden on Tuesday noted that the administration’s actions “will not solve the problem of high gas prices overnight.”
“It will take time, but before long, you should see the price of gas drop where you fill up your tank,” he said during his remarks. “And in the longer term, we will reduce our reliance on oil as we shift to clean energy.”
The funny thing is for Biden, the price of gasoline is an emergency.
He only hopes that he acted soon enough to stop the bleeding out in time for the mid-terms. Because gas prices hit the pain point that matters to Democrats. Thus, no blowback by Biden from AOC or any of the green energy freaks.
Once again, Biden proves that he’s willing to sacrifice America’s readiness energy-wise should he need to save his political ass.
Below are the times and reasons for tapping the Strategic Petroleum Reserve in the past.
- 1985: Test sale—1.1 million barrels (170,000 m3
- 1990–1991: Desert Storm sale—21 million barrels (3,300,000 m3)
- 4 million barrels (640,000 m3) in October 1990 test sale
- 17 million barrels (2,700,000 m3) in January 1991 presidentially ordered drawdown
- 1996–1997: 28 million barrels (4,500,000 m3) non-emergency sales for deficit reduction
- July–August 2000: 2.8 million barrels (450,000 m3) to supply the Northeast Home Heating Oil Reserve.
- September–October 2000: 30 million barrels (4,800,000 m3) in response to a concern over low distillate levels in the northeastern U.S.
- 2005 Hurricane Katrina sale: 11 million barrels (1,700,000 m3)—Katrina shut down 95% of crude production and 88% of natural gas output in the Gulf of Mexico. This amounted to a quarter of total U.S. output. About 735 oil and natural gas rigs and platforms had been evacuated due to the hurricane.
- 2011 Arab Spring sale: 30 million barrels (4,800,000 m3)—non-emergency sale to offset disruptions caused by political upheaval in Libya and elsewhere in the Middle East. The amount was matched by IEA countries, for a total of 60 million barrels (9,500,000 m3) released from stockpiles around the world.
What is the Strategic Petroleum Reserve?
The Strategic Petroleum Reserve (SPR) began in 1975 after oil supplies were interrupted during the oil embargo of 1973-74. The objective of the SPR was to mitigate future supply-chain interruptions that may occur for oil. The SPR was to be an emergency stockpile of petroleum maintained by the United States Department of Energy (DOE).
The reserve is the largest known emergency supply of oil in the world. Most of the supply is stored in underground tanks in Louisiana and Texas. The tanks reportedly can hold 714 million barrels (113,500,000 m3).
The current inventory is displayed on the SPR’s website. I visited to get an up-to-date amount, however the link to that information was broken.
I can report that as of September 4, 2021, the inventory was 621.3 million barrels (98,780,000 m3). This equates to about 31 days of oil at 2019 daily U.S. consumption levels of 20.54 million barrels per day (3,266,000 m3/d) or 65 days of oil at 2019 daily U.S. import levels of 9.141 million barrels per day (1,453,300 m3/d).
However, the maximum total withdrawal capability from the SPR is only 4.4 million barrels per day (700,000 m3/d). So it would take about 145 days to use the entire inventory. Still keep in mind that since 2015, Congress has been selling the oil in the reserve to fund the deficit, These sales are unpublicized, as Congress hides much from the public for obvious reasons. The U.S. Department of Energy has run seven sales since 2017, selling more than 60 million barrels, or about 8.6% of what had been in the reserve.
According to legislation already in place, the amount of oil in the reserve could fall to as little as 410 million barrels by 2028. This will be a 41% reduction to the oil in the reservoir since 2010.
At Biden’s rate, the reserve could be empty well before that date. Why? Because Biden tapped the reserve…again!
As IJR reports,
Amid concerns that Russia’s invasion of Ukraine could send gas prices even higher, President Joe Biden will approve a release of oil from the Strategic Petroleum Reserve.
In a statement on Tuesday, White House Press Secretary Jen Psaki said, “President Biden was clear from the beginning that all tools are on the table to protect American businesses and consumers, including from rising prices at the pump.”
“After intensive around-the-clock coordination and consultation by President Biden, the Administration and our Allies and partners, the International Energy Agency (IEA) Member countries, supported by the European Commission, agreed to a collective release of an initial 60 million barrels of crude oil from our strategic petroleum reserves,” she continued.
Psaki added, “As part of this agreement, President Biden will authorize the Department of Energy to release 30 million barrels from the U.S. Strategic Petroleum Reserve… We are prepared to use every tool available to us to limit disruption to global energy supply as a result of President Putin’s actions. We will also continue our efforts to accelerate diversification of energy supplies away from Russia and to secure the world from Moscow’s weaponization of oil and gas.”
Ironically, America imports between 12 million to 26 million barrels of oil from Russia monthly. So best case, this release by Biden is about a month’s worth of Russian oil.
If Trump pulled a stunt like this, he’d be impeached and imprisoned. And rightfully so. But let’s not forget that Trump doesn’t have a crackhead son with ties to Russia. Biden does. Further, let’s not forget that Trump didn’t threaten Ukraine to stop investigating said crackhead. Finally, Trump didn’t stop oil production of the Keystone XL pipeline, then begin buying oil from Russia. Biden did!
