After 35 solid years, the iconic Nordstrom’s is leaving San Francisco, and for good reason. The Democrat-run city continues to destroy the brick-and-mortar business world.
Between the rampant crime, including the smash-and-grab phenomenon that continues to go unchecked, and the homeless crisis that leaves sidewalks bathed in piss, San Francisco just isn’t the place for a lovely little shopping spree like it once was.
Moreover, the 312,000 square foot, five-story department store proudly served as an anchor in the Westfield shopping mall. Now that Nordstrom’s is leaving, so are many other retailers. They try to word it all diplomatically, explaining the mall’s diminution as “challenging operating conditions in downtown San Francisco, which have led to declines in sales, occupancy and foot traffic.”
Recently, The Daily Mail reported plans for Westfield’s parent company to abandon the mall all together. Nordstrom’s decision was the proverbial nail in the coffin for Westfield. “A total of 45 out of the 97 retailers operating in the mall – and 16 of the 36 food vendors – shuttered in just over three years, according to an analysis by the San Francisco Standard. Among those leaving are Abercrombie & Fitch, Banana Republic, Microsoft, Godiva Chocolate, Claire’s Boutique, Tiffany & Co. and Timberland. These closures are a tremendous loss, and it’s all thanks to leftism and leftist policies.
Westfield already admitted the lack of enforcement for existing laws is a huge problem, leaving the mall “unsafe” for shoppers. Then there’s the other leftist policies, such as the decriminalization of shoplifting, which makes theft up to $1,000 a misdemeanor. That’s what sparked the “smash-and-grab” fad. Add in covid closures and defunding the police and what you’re left with is a recipe for disaster. It didn’t take a deck of Tarot cards to read that future.
I used to tell my kids that in this life, the possibilities were endless… but seeing Nordstrom’s shut their doors has me rethinking that philosophy. Now I’m wondering— what else has leftism stolen from us?
I came up with my own top five.
5. Retail Success – Main Street is only sold online!
Nordstrom’s is merely one example of what leftism has done to retail stores. It will continue to happen wherever you find Democrats in charge, mark my words.
4. Safety in the City – Don’t Bother Dialing 9-1-1.
Where the police are defunded, the criminals are emboldened. More than 800 officers left the APD since Austin decided to defund the police, cutting more than $150M from their budget. The chief quit in the aftermath. Now the city council is re-funding the police, desperate to make up for their short-sighted vision.
Other cities also learned the hard way just what happens when there is no one to protect and serve. Last year, an op-ed in the Washington Examiner pointed out:
In 2020, Democrats fully embraced the radical “defund the police” movement. I and many of my Republican colleagues warned against the enactment of these extreme policies. As predicted, the results have been disastrous. Crime has spiked, officers have left their jobs, and criminals now have greater control over the streets.
“Defund the police” was more than just a catchphrase for the radical left. Democratic cities across the country reduced funding for their police forces over the past two years. Minneapolis, which saw some of the year’s most violent riots, cut its police budget by $8 million. Los Angeles slashed police funding by $150 million, and New York City shrank the NYPD’s budget by $1 billion. As a result, 14 major Democrat-run cities saw their highest homicide levels on record in 2021. The upward trend has not stopped.
Fox News recently analyzed data from seven major cities and found that this year, violent crimes have increased up to 40% over 2021. The increase has been particularly pronounced in New York City and Seattle, two cities that were on the leading edge of the “defund the police” movement. Though, it’s not just homicide rates that are up. Carjackings have become commonplace in many cities, and major increases in organized retail theft have left business owners struggling, frustrated, and feeling abandoned by local leaders.
Remember when your parents said “it’s not safe to walk the streets at night,” well, now it’s true.
3. Integrity at the FBI – A Higher Loyalty Should Be the Goal.
Remember when James Comey laughably penned “A Higher Loyalty: Truth, Lies and Leadership” ? He pretended the FBI was beyond reproach. As if all our cries over spying on Trump’s campaign, a fake dossier, a well-crafted Russian narrative and a witch hunt were misguided.
What did the truth turn out to be? Yep, you already know. Obama allowed spying. The FBI protected Hillary. She commissioned the fake dossier and started the Russian narrative herself. The witch hunt goes without saying, and we don’t even have to crack open Jan. 6th to prove that leftists have never held a higher loyalty. Instead, our FBI in an embarrassment. When Comey made the talk show rounds, he often quoted his book, saying, “This president (meaning Trump) is unethical, and untethered to truth and institutional values. His leadership is transactional, ego driven and about personal loyalty.”
Meanwhile, the entire time, Comey knew without an ounce of doubt who the real liar was.
2. Honesty from the Oval Office
Hmmm-hmmm-hmmmmm… is now a good time to mention the Big Guy? His 5,000 emails under a pseudonym? His denial of his own grandchild’s existence? How ’bout we discuss Biden’s constant pretending that he knew nothing of his son’s business dealings, despite his refusal to voluntarily provide any information whatsoever.
Biden won’t release phone records, emails, or tax documents for his 20+ LLCs. But he will happily brag about his transparency.
Remember the Yellow Pages? Stack twenty Houston editions and it still wouldn’t cover the lies Biden’s told so far. “Biden Lied” is no longer a shocking headline. For anyone.

The evidence continues to mount by the day — the Biden Crime Family has personally profited off Joe’s government positions through bribery, threats, and fraud. Joe Biden must not be allowed to continue to sit in the White House, selling out our country.
In a social media post on Friday, Steube listed bribery, extortion, obstruction of justice, fraud, and financial involvement in drugs and prostitution, adding, “It’s LONG PAST TIME to impeach Joe Biden.”

The strategy of Democrats shifted from “Hunter did nothing wrong,” to “Joe Biden is not connected to Hunter”.
The reason for the pivot is obvious. Hunter Biden committed multiple crime. Thus, he has been officially sacrificed. All Democrats can do now is try to save Joe.
However, saving Joe is a fruitless effort, and a pointless one. Even if his political career somehow lives on, the honesty we expect from the highest seat in the land has been destroyed. It would take someone amazing to restore it. Someone like, well, you know…
1. Peace of Mind – Our VOICES Are No Longer Heard
I’m not here to debate the election with you. I know what I know and I don’t have time to argue. I’m too busy being worried. I’m worried because there’s an idiot in charge. He proved his military ineptness in Afghanistan, and ten times since then. Any day, he could make THE move that drags us into war. I have five sons, and I go to bed wondering if Biden will force me to sacrifice one of them in the name of freedom, all while living in a land that is no longer free.
I’m worried. I’m worried because there’s an idiot in charge who destroyed our energy independence. He cancelled our pipeline to buy billions of barrels from the Russians. Yes, the Russians. The same Russians he hopes Ukraine overpowers in a war that just might be based on moves our president made, or failed to make.
I’m worried because there’s an idiot in charge that pushed inflation soooo high, I can barely feed my kids. We’re scraping out the penny jar for a tank of gas. My neighbor is considering heading down to Mexico, changing his name, and coming back illegally just so he can get some food stamps. I don’t blame him, and that has me worried too.
I fear it’s hope we are losing most. Without hope, you can’t have peace. Or joy. And that’s not the America I know and love. It’s the America leftists left us.
