As this article in CNBC explains,
The American Civil Liberties Union argued Wednesday that the gag order slapped on former President Donald Trump in his federal election interference case violates the U.S. Constitution.
You read that right. The ACLU says Donald Trump deserves free speech. But before you go all Chris Matthews Obama Bro Love and get that tingle up your leg, check out the rest.
The ACLU, a frequent and vocal critic of Trump that applauded his criminal indictment in the federal case in Washington, D.C., said that the restrictions placed on his speech run afoul of the First Amendment.
So the ACLU celebrated Trump’s indictment, but they want to protect his right to speak?
The ACLU continued,
“No modern-day president did more damage to civil liberties and civil rights than President Trump,” said the group’s executive director, Anthony Romero, in a press release.
“But if we allow his free speech rights to be abridged, we know that other unpopular voices — even ones we agree with — will also be silenced,” Romero said.
“As much as we disagreed with Donald Trump’s policies, everyone is entitled to the same First Amendment protection against gag orders that are too broad and too vague,” he said.
This is very clever at how the ACLU pretends to care about Trump’s rights, as they actually…SMASH Trump’s rights.
Exactly what did Trump do to “damage civil liberties and civil rights”? I will save you the suspense: Trump did nothing on those points.
But the most telling part of Romero’s statement is what he says about Trump’s policies. These are policies the ACLU disagreed with, but are in no way illegal. How thoughtful of the ACLU to fight to protect Trump’s First Amendment rights to defend himself against NOTHING!
The Left want Trump quiet, because they fear Trump’s ability to resonate with the people. And that’s the reason U.S. District Judge Tanya Chutkan imposed a partial gag order on him in mid-October. The ACLU called this specifically an unconstitutional act.
Part of the argument revolves around special counsel Jack Smith’s prosecutors comments that Trump’s statements about the case risked prejudicing the trial.
Oh the irony, particularly when you consider the orchestration the Left has gone through to get Trump. It’s easy to see who is at risk here.
I’m amazed at how the Left knows what Trump’s intent was in his declaration that the election was stolen. Recall when former FBI Director and Clinton co-conspirator James Comey decided not to recommend prosecuting Hillary Clinton he said that he didn’t know her intent.
The woman whose used an unauthorized email, hidden on a private server in the closet of her basement bathroom. As the walls closed in on Clinton’s Russian collusion ruse, her team smashed mobile phones, bleach-bit and wiped computer hard drives, then deleted over 33,000 emails. But Comey was unsure of Clinton’s intent.
I’m an outspoken election deniers, proudly so. I believe election deniers represent the majority of Americans; ergo the people who know with certainty that the election was stolen. Unquestionably, Trump believes the election was stolen; because it was stolen.
Let’s talk civil liberties and civil rights. But let’s ask this question of Joe Biden? Has he damaged any civil liberties and civil rights?
I’d say using the American public to enrich himself and his family violates the civil liberties and civil rights of all taxpaying Americans. But Jack Smith busies himself with the specious prosecution of Trump?
Democrats play a dangerous game, that I predict will backfire. It already has with BLM.
Almost daily we learn more about the Bidens crooked deals and the circuitous coverups involving agencies in our government. The public will demand real justice.
