Democrats face big problems without Mitch McConnell

Mitch McConnell’s retirement will have major impact on the Democrats. Behind the scenes, Democrats scramble to replace him.

What a miserable Republican leader of the Senate McConnell has been. Whether Republicans had a majority or a minority, McConnell acted like a lap dog for Democrats. Or should I say, “the Uniparty”. Thankfully, McConnell’s reign ends soon, as AP reports:

McConnell, who turned 82 last week, was set to announce his decision Wednesday in the well of the Senate, a place where he looked in awe from its back benches in 1985 when he arrived and where he grew increasingly comfortable in the front row seat afforded the party leaders.

“One of life’s most underappreciated talents is to know when it’s time to move on to life’s next chapter,” he said in prepared remarks obtained by The Associated Press. “So I stand before you today … to say that this will be my last term as Republican leader of the Senate.”

His decision punctuates a powerful ideological transition underway in the Republican Party, from Ronald Reagan’s brand of traditional conservatism and strong international alliances, to the fiery, often isolationist populism of former President Donald Trump.

McConnell’s departure signals good news for Trump

Given that politicians like McConnell hardly ever quit, some question what’s up? Most people figured McConnell would be removed from the Senate in a gurney. So retirement shocks many of us.

Personally, I consider McConnell’s retirement a sign. McConnell is waving the white flag. He’s admitting that Trump will return to the Oval Office in 2024. Essentially, McConnell couldn’t help Democrats destroy Donald Trump, so he’s finally called it a day. Why stick around for a vindictive president Trump.

Better get out and protect what little legacy he has. Because who knows what Trump’s team will unearth, as he peels back the onion of deception by McConnell the rest of the motley crew? The coup. Tthe J6 coverup. And what about the bipartisan coddling of the Biden Crime family?

Speaking of the Bidens, the big guy better be paying attention.

McConnell certainly understands his fate. Leave or get pushed out. Now that the world knows Biden is old and feeble, Democrats see their opening.

The article continues,

As with Joe Biden, questions have arisen about McConnell’s physical and mental wellness. Last year, he was absent for weeks following an injury he sustained from a fall. His absence prompted speculation that he would resign, and there were even whispers of preparations for a leadership vote. He reportedly fell multiple times last year, and Republicans in the Kentucky state legislature ensured that their Democrat governor wouldn’t be able to nominate a Democrat as his replacement in the event of a vacancy.

In July, McConnell inexplicably froze during a press conference, sparking speculation about how long he would remain in the Senate. However, his staff says that today’s announcement about McConnell’s leadership post is unrelated to his health, and that he intends to serve out his Senate term, which ends in January 2027.

The day McConnell froze publicly should have alerted him that he needed to hang up the pantyhose. But he persisted, lying about his competence like he’s kin to Joe Biden.

“As I have been thinking about when I would deliver some news to the Senate, I always imagined a moment when I had total clarity and peace about the sunset of my work,” McConnell says in his prepared remarks. “A moment when I am certain I have helped preserve the ideals I so strongly believe. It arrived today.”

Biden is worse than McConnell. Thus, he will soon suffer the same fate.

Democrats pretend to support Biden publicly, but behind the scenes things are dramatically different. McConnell knew his days were numbered, so he did what Biden should do. What Biden will eventually do? Regardless, Biden is not in charge of his exit.

I imagine he, Pelosi, Schumer, Biden and a handful of other old politicians have a bet. Whoever leaves last wins. And like in Trading Places, all the participants are willing to sell America out…for one dollar.

McConnell paid up.
