Only Donald Trump could have a lackluster debate and crush his opponent. Yes, crushed. Oh ye of little faith.
Here’s what Major Garrett of CBS had to say about Trump supporters, post-debate:

Donald Trump did what only he can do and that’s to expose the game. And what a game that was played.
I know that many people watched the debate and you wanted more. You watched Trump play defense, when you expected offense. As a fighter, I will explain that watching a person win on defense is like watching a master tactician.
Trump backed up the entire fight, and threw punches that landed. Softly. His punches were absorbed by Harris and soaked. If you don’t believe me, answer this question: What is the most memorable thing Harris said? If all you recall are her litany of blatant lies, then you get my point.
Harris generated no soundbites, or any comments of consequence, except those that will ultimately bolster Trump’s positions.
Now ask that question of Trump?
I recall him saying,
“Nobody attends your rallies; you have to bus people in.”
And my bet is that you remember that one, and perhaps a few others.
Trump’s style
I don’t like Trump’s debate style. He earned a C- when he could have easily gotten a B+. I know what answers I would have given to some of the questions, and they were better than Trump’s. For instance, how do you not prepare for the “racist” question, by answering as follows.
“She calls me a racist, when I passed the First Step Act that freed many of the Blacks she put in prison for minor drug crimes. Kamala Harris has put more Black people in jail than Bull Connor.”
Trust me, Trump missed many such opportunities and it frustrates me. However, one thing I realized after watching Trump’s debates: he has a way of reaching the “gut” of a voter.
In 2016 after Trump’s first debate I thought his political career was over. I felt the same after the second debate. And in this most recent debate, I held similar emotions. But then I remembered the first two debates.
What’s the talk about?
Kamala Harris had an earpiece, and likely was tipped off the questions. Those allegations have been raised. Frankly I don’t care about either, as it implies she won the debate, but cheated. Harris didn’t win the debate, even with the help of two moderators.
Harris told multiple lies, somewhere between 15-21 according to reports I’ve read. And not one time did the moderators fact-check her. Then we learn that Harris and her husband are good friends with the CEO of ABC and and one of the moderators is a sorority sister.
These so-called moderators fact-check President Trump twice. Hysterically, and one fact-check was on a Trump opinion, for goodness sake. And in neither case was the fact-check correct, but Trump’s statements were.
Knowing the deck was stacked against him, Trump still showed up. That’s all he needed to do to expose Harris as a pathological liar willing to say anything to get elected. And he exposed a complicit media all too willing to help.
The discussions everywhere are about how Donald Trump can’t get a fair deal from the Left; under any circumstances. That debate validated everything Trump has railed about since he descended the escalator. Americans, MAGA, conservatives, nor Republicans get a fair deal.
Ask yourself, “Did Trump change in any way? Did he deviate from being Trump?”
Trump answers questions, difficult question. About abortion, taxes, wars, you name it. Harris answered nothing. The voters knew nothing more about Harris post-debate, but what they learned in her answers angers some and shocks others.
The message that’s soaking today is that Trump tells the truth, answers questions albeit clumsily at times. But he can be trusted. Harris cannot.
The Soak
As people play back the debate, they will remember Trump talking about Haitians eating pets. Next, they will research the story or hear it in the news and Trump will be vindicated. The same is true for the debunked Charlottesville, and many of the other lies told by Harris. And as Trump is vindicated, Harris and Democrats are indicted.
But the real win comes as people return to the real world post-debate. High gas prices, rampant inflation, dwindling savings and investment accounts, and much more. And they will ultimately remember that Trump gave them real hope.
Trump has reached deeper into the psyche of the common man than any modern-day politician. And that’s why he crushed it in the debate.
