Harris May Go Back to No Interviews Soon

Kamala Harris is a train wreck of her own creation. And her running mate is no better. I call these two the “Undynamic Duo” for a reason.

The Harris-Walz campaign proudly showcased their media strategy, and it was insultingly pandering. Harris is doing soft-toss interviews with sex podcasters, in an effort to reach the youngsters. Nothing like a 60-something year-old call girl to teach young women how to rise through the ranks. It’s like Harris took the Harvey Weinstein seminar on “Making It In Hollyweird for Dummies”.

Next, Harris sipped beer in her contrived interview with comedic hack Stephen Colbert. I’m not sure what demographic she targeted with this interview, given Colbert’s numbers. Perhaps the metrosexuals? Needless to say, that interview did nothing to move the needle. Quite frankly, most pundits say it backfired. The fact that they brought her favorite beer sort of ruined the idea of a impromptu, non-orchestrated event. Like her rally-goers seem to give away that perhaps Kamala Harris isn’t as popular as the media portrays?

Did Team Harris not learn anything from the Oprah interview?

Anyway, the real damage to Harris was done a week or so ago. While 60 Minutes didn’t try to play “gotcha’ politics, they actually accomplished it–by asking normal questions.

Out of the gate, 60 Minutes hit Harris with the obvious question of her selection.

Harris provided what Americans have come to expect from her: rambling pander.

Harris didn’t state her case for why she presents the best opportunity for Democrats. And the reason is simple: she doesn’t have a case.

Harris knows that in a real primary, she would have gotten trounced by a cadre of potential candidates. You don’t finish last in 2020 and think people suddenly would select you first. Particularly when Harris was perhaps the most unpopular VP in the modern era. But if you think Harris blew her first question, 60 Minutes wasn’t done.

Next came a question about the handling of the border:

Et tu, Brute! Yes, in a reenactment of the slaying of Caesar in the Senate chamber, 60 Minutes stabbed Harris repeatedly on the border.

The border czar allowed quadruple the illegals to enter into the country, as 60 Minutes pointed out.

60 Minutes: “You recently visited the southern border and– embraced President Biden’s recent crackdown on asylum seekers. And that crackdown produced an almost immediate and dramatic decrease in the number of border crossings. If that’s the right answer now, why didn’t your administration take those steps in 2021?”

Kamala: “The first bill we proposed to Congress was to fix our broken immigration system, knowing that if you want to actually fix it, we need Congress to act. It was not taken up. Fast forward to a moment when a bipartisan group of members of the United States Senate, including one of the most conservative members of the United States Senate, got together, came up with the border security bill. Well, guess what happened? Donald Trump got word that this bill was afoot and could be passed and he wants to run on a problem instead of fixing a problem, so he told his buddies in Congress, ‘Kill the bill. Don’t let it move forward.'”

The first bill they proposed to Congress? What about Biden-Harris undoing all of Trump’s border policies?

Below are a few of the major initiatives that Biden canceled, and initiative the current invasion.

  1. Termination of “Remain in Mexico” (Migrant Protection Protocols – MPP): Undoubtedly, the most egregious act by Biden was to this Trump initiative. Trump’s MPP required asylum seekers to wait in Mexico while their cases were processed in the U.S. Sadly, Biden halted this program in January 2021 via executive order. Then, he later attempted to formally end it. After legal challenges, the administration successfully terminated MPP in August 2022. Critics of the rollback argued it might lead to an increase in illegal border crossings. They were right.
  2. Reversal of the Public Charge Rule: Trump’s public charge rule made it harder for immigrants to obtain legal status if they used public benefits such as Medicaid or housing assistance. Biden signed an executive order in February 2021 to reverse this policy, effectively removing the barrier that prevented immigrants from accessing public services without jeopardizing their immigration status. So the monetary problems America is experiencing due to illegal immigration is a direct result of Biden’s policies.
  3. Ending of Border Wall Construction: Remember “Build that wall!”? Well, on his first day in office Biden signed an executive order halting the construction of Trump’s border wall. Walls slowed the influx of illegals. And had Biden followed through with the wall, immigration would be a trickle. The Biden administration argued that the wall was an ineffective use of resources, and added that the wall would be cost-prohibitive.
  4. Rescinding Travel Bans: Trump was called a xenophobe for doing a lesser version of what Obama did. yet, Biden issued an executive order on his first day in office to end Trump’s travel bans, the Left referred to it as the “Muslim ban,” which restricted travel from several predominantly Muslim-majority countries.
  5. Reduction in ICE Enforcement: Biden scaled back Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) operations by limiting the categories of undocumented immigrants prioritized for arrest and deportation, focusing primarily on those who are a national security or public safety threat. This was a marked departure from Trump’s broader immigration enforcement policies, which targeted nearly all undocumented individuals .

Trump’s policies worked, as I mentioned on my radio show

These actions, taken through executive orders and policy shifts, represent significant departures from Trump’s immigration strategy. Biden’s approach has faced both praise and criticism, with some arguing that his policies have contributed to rising border crossings and challenges in managing immigration effectively.

60 Minutes: “But I’ve been covering the border for– for years. And so I know this is not a problem that started with your administration.”

Kamala: “Correct. Correct.”

60 Minutes: “But there was an historic flood of undocumented immigrants coming across the border the first three years of your administration. As a matter of fact, arrivals quadrupled from the last year of President Trump. Was it a mistake to loosen the immigration policies as much as you did?”

Kamala: “It’s a longstanding problem. And solutions are at hand. And from day one, literally, we have been offering solutions.”

60 Minutes: “What I was asking was, was it a mistake to kind of allow that flood to happen in the first place?”

Kamala: “I think– the policies that we have been proposing are about fixing a problem, not promoting a problem, okay?”

60 Minutes: “But the numbers did quadruple under your watch.”

Kamala: “Because of what we have done– we have cut the flow of illegal immigration by half. We have cut the flow of fentanyl by half. But we need Congress to be able to act to actually fix the problem.”

60 Minutes was relentless.

I love Harris’ non-response to the quadrupling. However, she laughingly pointed out that the overall growth has been cut in half. So let’s consider the numbers.

Let’s say one million illegals come to America each month, and that went on for say 18 months, allowing 18 million illegals into the country. Then in the fourth year, you cut that number by half. Have you actually solved the problem? Or in the case of Harris, gotten to the root cause of illegal immigration?

And what a time to be discussing illegals, when we have massive flooding on the East Coast and Zelenskyy’s continual begging for more American taxpayer money.

Harris suffered mightily from illegals showing their SNAP card balances, and discussing living rent-free for two years. If there is a single issue that has cratered the Harris-Walz campaign, it’s illegal immigration.

No sense piling on

Things didn’t get any better for Harris as 60 Minutes pivoted to foreign policy involving Taiwan. Harris gave a convoluted answer on the One China policy that likely had Taiwan moving to Defcon 1. Clearly Harris has no idea how to deal with China as it relates to Taiwan. But another subject for another day.

The irony that the 60 Minutes interview was supposed to give Harris some credibility. Instead it reduced her to doing minstrel shows.
