Not that the Harris-Walz campaign needed anything more to tank their chances, but Hurricane Helene is raining on their parade.
When you consider all the money going to Ukraine, and the tepid response thus far from Biden-Harris, one can understand why Americans have sickened of the Democratic Party.
It’s a complete “catastrophe in Asheville, North Carolina.”

Once again, the Biden-Harris administration has given us another masterclass in disaster mismanagement. From botching the response to the tragedy in Lahaina, Maui, to their award-winning display of indifference toward East Palestine, Ohio. Most recently, we get their current piece de resistance: their Afghanistan-like support of the victims of Hurricane Helene, particularly in Asheville, N.C.
If ineptitude were an Olympic sport, Biden-Harris would be certain to take gold.
And did you happen to catch that Kamala Harris photo-op? Always ready for her close-up, Harris used Hurricane Helene as her latest backdrop for “look, I’m a leader” selfies. Late Sunday, she proudly tweeted about getting briefed by FEMA and having a serious chat with North Carolina’s governor about recovery efforts. Naturally, she included a very presidential-looking photo to seal the deal—too bad it turned out to be about as real as her sudden burst of leadership.
Shockingly, Harris was nowhere near the disaster, but instead she was fundraising in the City of Poop Maps and Hypodermic Needles. Why help when you can hobnob with Left Coast elites?
Bear in mind, it hasn’t gone unnoticed by taxpayers that FEMA spent more time going “woke” than in real disaster preparedness.
Governor Ron DeSantis had electrical repair vehicle at the ready as the storm approached. And when the bulk of the storm missed Florida, he held a press conference pledging resources to help North Carolina.
President Trump reportedly donated $25 million to the beleaguered effort, as Joe Biden vacationed on the beach, and wrote checks to Zelenskyy.
Biden does have an excuse, given how he got booted out of power. But lameduck status doesn’t mean he can ignore natural disasters. Still, in what can only be described as a perfect storm of disaster and neglect, the Biden-Harris administration seems to have its focus elsewhere—namely, on funding Ukraine. Catastrophic flooding has isolated entire communities, making it nearly impossible for emergency crews to deliver critical supplies like food, water, and fuel. With hundreds of roads and bridges washed away, the response efforts are being severely hampered.
Despite the National Guard stepping in to assist with rescue operations—saving 119 people so far—many areas remain inaccessible. Residents are struggling, and communication is limited, especially near the French Broad River, where homes and businesses have been submerged. Power outages continue to plague the region, and as I mentioned earlier, dozens of people have tragically lost their lives. The lack of electricity and the collapsed infrastructure have left many people unaccounted for.
What a perfect time to deploy Starlink. But instead they are building temporary cell towers to help restore communication. Needless to say, it will take a while for the region to recover fully.
But if you’re waiting for swift federal action, don’t hold your breath. Apparently, there’s more money for foreign conflicts than for American citizens struggling with natural disasters. The priorities are crystal clear, and it’s not American citizen.
The Fallout for Harris-Walz
The optics of this storm are foreboding for Harris-Walz. According to Fox News,
Hurricane Helene is already impacting the Harris-Walz campaign, particularly in battleground states like North Carolina. Critics argue the administration’s response has been sluggish, with Kamala Harris facing backlash for prioritizing fundraising events in California while disaster relief was still ongoing. This narrative is amplified by comparisons to Trump’s visible presence in affected areas like Georgia, distributing aid. With many voters focused on disaster response, the Biden-Harris administration’s decision to fund Ukraine over domestic recovery efforts could further erode support.
The timing couldn’t be worse. And sadly for Harris-Walz, more storms are brewing.
