Democrats are slowly waking to the reality of why they lost. How funny that some Democrats are waking from “woke.”
For the better part of two decades, I’ve fought to end identity politics. Meritocracy is how Nature works, and it’s a cornerstone of evolution. Every organism on Earth evolves for survival and strives to make things better for the next generation. Every organism, that is, except Democrats.
Show me a weak leader or the botched implementation of a decent idea, and I’ll show you a Democrat within slapping distance. Take any commonsense policy, and you’ll find Democrats treating it like a piñata at an anger management retreat.
Let’s start with voter ID. Who on Earth argues against the idea that voters should prove they are who they say they are? Oh, right—Democrats. They’ll tell you valid voter ID is “discriminatory,” even though you need an ID to do almost anything else in this country, from buying cough syrup to boarding a plane.
Then there’s illegal immigration. Democrats treat open borders like bimbos at a Diddy party–everybody’s welcome. Meanwhile, over a million immigrants patiently wait their turn to enter America legally—often the most qualified, hardworking people who’d be excellent citizens. But no, let’s reward those who skip the line while sticking it to those playing by the rules. This passes for sensible with the Left, believe it or not.
A Government of Glorious Ineptitude
As you ponder President Trump’s new Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE), it’s worth examining the current state of our bloated, ineffectual bureaucracies.
- The Department of Education: More spending, lower results. American students are falling behind globally, but at least we’ve got new DEI programs to show for it. Because nothing says “improving literacy” like teaching kids to state their pronouns before they know their ABCs.
- The Department of Energy: For a department tasked with energy, they seem perpetually out of gas. Billions in subsidies later, we’re still lectured about windmills and solar panels while half the country wonders why gas prices feel like a second mortgage.
- The Department of Homeland Security: Because nothing says “security” like fentanyl and terrorists pouring across the border, which also serves as a revolving door for human trafficking.
These agencies aren’t just ineffective; they’ve perfected the art of being ineffective while growing larger. When they fail, they don’t fix the problem—they create new committees to investigate it. And when that doesn’t work, they point to a lack of diversity as the culprit.
DEI: The Excuse That Keeps on Giving
Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI) wasn’t just a policy—it was a lifeline for failing government agencies. Couldn’t meet your objectives? Blame “systemic inequities.” Need more funding? Argue that diversity initiatives are underfunded. The problem wasn’t DEI itself but the way it became a bureaucratic Trojan horse, justifying inefficiency while demonizing anyone who dared to ask, “But is this working?”
Democrats: Waking Up at Last?
In the aftermath of the 2024 election, there’s a glimmer of hope that Democrats are finally smelling the coffee. Representative Elissa Slotkin, in a rare moment of clarity, admitted:
“Identity politics needs to end… people don’t want to be told who they are based on their gender, ethnicity, or orientation.”
The Daily Wire reported:
Democrat Senator-elect Elissa Slotkin (D-MI) told her party that “identity politics” needs to end if they want to have a chance to win back voters after losing the White House in 2024 to President-elect Donald Trump.
During a Democrat Senatorial Campaign Committee briefing with Dem candidates who won their election, the soon-to-be senator from Michigan didn’t mince words when talking about why the party lost the White House.
“I personally think that identity politics needs to go the way of the dodo,” Slotkin said, per David Weigel in a post on X. She also said that the party should take language “not from the faculty lounge, but the assembly line.”
The comments were similar to ones the incoming senator made during her appearance on MSNBC when asked about the party’s recent defeat.
“Any party — and I can only represent the Democratic Party — needs to focus on the things that keep people up at night. That’s their pocketbooks and their kids,” Slotkin said. “There are a lot of issues out there. But you’ve got to start with what keeps people awake, and that is kitchen-table issues, economics.”
“We gotta stay away … we don’t need to obsess about identity politics,” she added. “And by the way, this last election demonstrated very clearly that they don’t stand up.”
But Slotkin didn’t always feel this way…
The Detroit News noted that Despite Slotkin’s recent comments about “identity politics,” she voted multiple times against keeping men out of women’s restrooms and locker rooms.
In May 2019, during her first term in Congress, Slotkin voted for the Equality Act. Along with other provisions, the act “prohibits an individual from being denied access to a shared facility, including a restroom, a locker room, and a dressing room, that is in accordance with the individual’s gender identity.”
Thankfully, the bill was trampled Republicans in the Senate, then passed again in 2021, with Slotkin voting for it, the outlet noted.
Not done, In April 2023, Slotkin also voted against the Protection of Women and Girls in Sports Act, which “prohibits school athletic programs from allowing individuals whose biological sex at birth was male to participate in programs that are for women or girls.”
Finding Neverland
Only now does Slotkin realizes that Americans aren’t interested in endless lectures about pronouns. Nor do we want to be indoctrinated on the Heinz 57 varieties of gender. We’re tired of being told we’re bad people if we question the latest woke fad.
What do they want? A return to normalcy. A focus on issues that matter—like jobs, safety, and education—not on whether today’s buzzword is “Latinx” or “cisgender.”
Democrats built a house of cards on identity politics, and MAGA came in with a leaf blower. For years, Leftists overplayed their hand, weaponizing labels and promoting division under the guise of inclusion. Now, even their own party members are admitting that the strategy has run its course.
The real lesson of 2024? Americans are fed up. They don’t want bureaucrats with rainbow lanyards; they want a government that works. And if Democrats can’t figure that out, they’ll keep losing. But hey, at least they’ll have their pronouns.
