While Sam Bankman-Fried was doing interviews and making phone calls from jail, the Fed went after one of his co-workers.
According to the New York Post, SBF’s payments to Democrats continues to pay off. Instead of the kingpin of the biggest cryptocurrency scam will not be the first to go to prison.
Nishad Singh, the former director of engineering at now-bankrupt cryptocurrency exchange FTX, pleaded guilty to six criminal fraud charges at a court hearing on Tuesday, as US prosecutors ramp up their investigation into members of Sam Bankman-Fried’s inner circle.
I’m certain that everyone involved with this crypto-scam is guilty of something. But to get the Asian guy first?!
What could Singh possibly have done to deserve to go to prison first? Whatever he did, I assure you that SBF caused the problem. And what of his high-ranking girlfriend who ran the other company where SBF fraudulently sent funds? Surely somebody white should go to prison just so Democrats can keep up appearances.
As for Singh, the story continues,
Singh pleaded guilty to one count of wire fraud, three counts of conspiracy to commit fraud, one count of conspiracy to commit money laundering and one count of conspiracy to defraud the United States by violating campaign finance laws. US District Judge Lewis Kaplan accepted the plea.
The Manhattan US Attorney addressed Singh’s plea:
“Today’s guilty plea underscores once again that the crimes at FTX were vast in scope and consequence. They rocked our financial markets with a multibillion dollar fraud. And they corrupted our politics with tens of millions of dollars in illegal straw campaign contributions. These crimes demand swift and certain justice and that is exactly what we are seeking in the Southern District of New York.”
By contrast, Feds charged Bankman-Fried, FTX’s founder with eight counts of fraud and conspiracy back in December. Prosecutors say he stole billions in FTX customer deposits to plug losses at his hedge fund Alameda Research. Then, he lied to investors and lenders about his companies’ financial condition.
So the guy who actually stole the money and lied remains free. And to show his contrition, SBF pleaded not guilty.
