Obama’s incompetent foreign policy has now resulted in Russian, Iranian and Chinese military troops and assets pouring into Syria to prop up the brutal dictator Bashar al-Assad.
What began as demonstrations for Assad’s removal in 2011 has now resulted in a war that has raged for 4+ years, and claimed the lives of 250,000 Syrians. Assad crossed Obama’s “red line” in 2013 when he used chemical weapons on opposition groups. The casualties were numerous, including the deaths of hundreds of civilians. Obama later backed down when Russian President Vladimir Putin threatened to intervene.
Less than a few short months after the Iranian Nuclear Deal agreement, Russia now has over 600 combat troops and several attack aircraft in Syria, Iran has over 1,000 Revolutionary Guard troops and China has an aircraft carrier docked in the Syrian port city of Tartus, with more ships on the way.
The other night, in a tense meeting at the American Embassy in Baghdad, a Russian 3-star general requested the U.S. clear out Syrian airspace so they could conduct airstrikes against ISIS. The U.S. officials refused the request and earlier that day Russian warplanes struck a Syrian Free Army position. The Syrian Free Army is backed by the U.S. and other western powers. As reported by FOX News, there were no ISIS positions in the area:
“A U.S. official said Russian airstrikes targeted fighters in the vicinity of Homs, located roughly 60 miles east of a Russian naval facility in Tartus, and were carried out by a ‘couple’ of Russian bombers. The strikes hit targets in Homs and Hama, but there is no presence of ISIS in those areas, a senior U.S. defense official said. These planes are hitting areas where Free Syrian Army and other anti-Assad groups are located, the official said.”
In addition, Russia has deployed sophisticated air-to-air missiles in Syria, despite the fact ISIS is not flying combat aircraft. As reported by CNN:
“’We see some very sophisticated air defenses going into those airfields. We see some very sophisticated air-to-air aircraft going into these airfields. I have not seen ISIL flying any airplanes that require SA-15s or SA-22s (Russian missiles). I have not seen ISIL flying any airplanes that require sophisticated air-to-air capabilities,’ Gen. Phillip Breedlove, NATO’s supreme allied commander, said on Monday.”
The presence of these missiles can only mean one thing: Russia is prepared to shoot down American aircraft should the U.S. interfere in its air campaign.
Further evidence is the Iranian Quds Force commander Qasem Soleimani met with Russian and Iraqi officials in Baghdad on September 22 and agreed to share intelligence. Iran’s Revolutionary Guard is in Syria to train Hezbollah, both sworn enemies of Israel. Finally, China’s naval presence is a symbol to Russia that they have their back. So much for that “easy button,” right Hillary?
This is what happens when you have a gullible and weak American President. Obama has the Axis of Evil all cooperating against the United States, as he limps along in his schizophrenic foreign policy pursuits.
Obama has allowed Iran a path to a nuclear weapon, and he did nothing to stop Russia from annexing Crimea which has allowed them to wreak havoc in Ukraine. China routinely hacks into our defense systems with no consequences. They are all counting on the fact Obama will do nothing.
Obama has set the stage for World War III. Iran will have puppet regimes in Syria and Iraq. They will be on the doorsteps of U.S. allies Israel, Saudi Arabia, Jordan and Turkey. The future costs of his incompetence will be catastrophic.
