Here is a poll that Leftists do not want America to see. Talk about a poll that destroys the narrative.
If you believe Leftists, then you believe blacks hate cops. After all, according to Leftists, police hunt blacks. How could blacks possibly want police around?!
Busted: Apparently, blacks didn’t get this particular memo. Because according to this latest Gallup poll:
When asked whether they want the police to spend more time, the same amount of time or less time than they currently do in their area, most Black Americans — 61% — want the police presence to remain the same. This is similar to the 67% of all U.S. adults preferring the status quo, including 71% of White Americans.
Meanwhile, nearly equal proportions of Black Americans say they would like the police to spend more time in their area (20%) as say they’d like them to spend less time there (19%).
How about that? Blacks think the same as whites when it comes to policing.
A fact that will surely come as a shock to Joe “blacks are all the same” Biden. More on the survey:
These findings are from a June 23-July 6 Gallup Panel survey, administered by web in English and conducted as part of the newly launched Gallup Center on Black Voices. The study includes large samples of Black, Hispanic and Asian Americans, weighted to their correct proportions of the population.
Of these four racial/ethnic groups, Asian Americans are the most likely to want less police presence where they live, with 28% saying this. That contrasts with 12% of White Americans, 17% of Hispanic Americans and 19% of Black Americans.
Interesting how Leftists plan on selling “less police” to blacks, when clearly blacks want more policing?
Will Leftists win the misinformation battle, yet again?
Black neighborhoods are the most dangerous on the planet. In fact, some areas of large cities with heavy black populations present more danger to citizens than war zones in Iraq or Afghanistan. While Leftists push for fewer police or to defund police altogether, these neighborhoods grow more deadly each day.
Frankly, anybody pushing to defund the police should be called racist, given the stats. And what is the cost of this?
It’s difficult to calculate the costs of crime.
Some experts put the figure at $460 billion. That’s one hell of a number. In fact, it’s certainly a lot larger than the police budgets.
However, according to Reuters:
Violence and its aftermath cost the entire U.S. economy some $460 billion last year, according to the Institute for Economics and Peace’s second annual United States Peace Index.
The Index even ranks American cities. The most peaceful metropolitan area in America is Cambridge-Newton-Framingham in Massachusetts. The least peaceful metropolitan area is Detroit-Livonia-Dearborn, Michigan. The more peaceful metro areas were found to have lower poverty, inequality and unemployment rates.
So why should Congress care about these rankings?
Because violence and violence containment is costing the average taxpayer $3,257 each year. In fact, the total cost of violence to the U.S. — including lost productivity from violence — was conservatively calculated to be over S460 billion.
Improvement in peace pays dividends. According to the Index, if all the states in the U.S. had the same level of peacefulness as the most peaceful state of Maine, $274 billion worth of extra economic activity could be generated.
But it’s hard to generate peace in the leftist-run world Obama created. Yet, it’s not impossible. Of course my first thought for increasing peace happens to be ‘increase the police.’ The only way to sell it to the left is to line out the dollar signs.
Take one component of these costs, specifically the financial costs of incarceration. Emphasis needs to be placed on programs that reduce the likelihood of re-offending or finding more cost effective ways that deal with non-violent offenders. Programs dealing with education and vocational training have been proven to be effective in reducing recidivism. To highlight the size of the problem, if all of the people who were incarcerated were contained in one city it would be the fourth largest in the U.S.
What will leftists do about the number of people incarcerated in the US? Well, like Dr. Phil says, the greatest predictor of future behavior is past behavior. So, if we apply that logic, we can expect liberals to ignore the issues surrounding incarceration.
However, Donald Trump actually made great strides in prison reform.
In 2019, he signed the First Step Act. He also redirected $75 million in funding to help with implementation of the act. Trump’s Administration put in place a new system that will assess inmates’ risk of re offending and provide tailored programming that helps some inmates reduce their sentences.
So what does Trump’s past behavior predict? He will continue to make strides towards improving the numbers of incarcerated individuals. And thanks to Trump’s economy, people won’t just get out of jail. They’ll go back to work. The black community will benefit most from this two part strategy of getting people out of prison and on the payrolls.
It’s what you call a win-win. But liberals hope no one is actually paying attention to the numbers. Because their way of fixing things is to defund the police. And they don’t want anyone to realize their plan just doesn’t add up.
