SELLOUT: Will Smith’s “Toby” Moment

Blackifying the Oscars Backfired

A few years have passed since Will Smith’s wife demanded they “blackify” the Oscars.

The #OscarsSoWhite controversy sparked by Jada Pinkett-Smith caused the organization the get woke. So instead of multi-millionaire actors simply enjoying the amazing money they make for playing other people, now everybody gets a trophy.

Hey, I get it. If white multi-millionaires get meaningless trophies, then why not black ones.

Apparently, “You had me at ‘Hello’!”, Will Smith rekindled his love for his bride. You know, the one who admits that the couple maintain an “open” relationship.

Again; whatever’s clever. If that’s how you show love, who am I to deny them?

Fast forward to the year that the Oscars finally pay their reparations to the Smith freak show, Will Smith showed his emotions.

No need to recount the bitch-slap Smith put on Chris Rock. It happened. And Will Smith with Oscar in hand has had time to reflect on the moment. Or the white powers-that-be reflected for him.

How do you give a trophy to a gangsta?

The Academy likely demanded that Will Smith issue an apology. He certainly didn’t “catch his snap” enough during his Best Actor acceptance speech. He mentioned getting emotional due to love, but that’s it. I’m just glad he didn’t catch Chris Rock “boinking” Jada. Oh wait, THAT would have been ok. Just don’t talk about her alopecia.

Anyway, a day after the incident, Will Smith issued a public apology to Chris Rock .

“I would like to publicly apologize to you, Chris,” Smith wrote in a statement posted to Instagram.

“I was out of line and I was wrong. I am embarrassed and my actions were not indicative of the man I want to be,” the actor wrote.

In his  statement, Smith addressed Rock’s reportedly unscripted quip aimed at his wife.

“Jokes at my expense are a part of the job, but a joke about my Jada’s medical condition was too much for me to bear and I reacted emotionally.”

“My behavior at last night’s Academy Awards was unacceptable and inexcusable.”

Do you think he really believes this?
