Democrat Witch Hunt Hits Another Dead End

I get the whole “if at first you don’t succeed, try, try again” motto, but Democrats are fooling themselves if they think this is a battle they’ll ever win.

Which battle am I referring to? The witch hunt against President Trump- more specifically, the quest to put his income taxes on display. How many times will the left end up with a big fat nothing burger before they throw in the towel?

I’ll never forget the time Rachel Maddow spent an entire day teasing that she had Trump by the balls, and she was going to put him on blast the second her timeslot rolled around. And guess what happened? She was scooped by President Trump who released his return himself.

Not only did he beat her to the punch, but Trump proved that he actually paid more taxes than he was legally required to.

In 2017, I wrote:

As it turns out, despite the ability to not pay taxes due to earlier losses, Donald Trump in 2005 had paid taxes. A lot of taxes. $38 MILLION in taxes.

Allow me to spare you the details, except to say that Maddow spent almost the entire show stalling. She’d been scooped, AND her narrative was blown.

If only there had been a way to tie Trump to RUSSIA!

Ironically, Maddow didn’t even acknowledge that Trump paid $38 million in taxes. Nor did she explain that he could have avoided the tax burden due to his $916 million loss in 1995, an exemption he could use for up to 18 years.

Adding insult to stupidity, Van Jones commented:

“If all we got tonight is Trump paid $38M in taxes, it’s a good night for Trump. Thanks to MSNBC we now know that Trump paid a higher tax rate than Obama, MSNBC and Bernie Sanders.”

I thought for sure, the humiliation would teach Democrats a lesson. Of course, we’ve since witnessed that Democrats are incapable of learning their lessons. Thus, they play the tax return card AGAIN. With the end of the year in site, and the “changing of the guard” on its way, the U.S. House Ways and Means Committee released six years of former President Donald Trump’s tax returns on Friday.

From what I’ve been able to ascertain, this is the first time Congress made such a move against anyone. But at this point, desperation is running pretty thick.

Breitbart adds:

Trump had resisted calls to release his tax returns during the 2016 presidential election, saying that they were under audit. He was also reluctant to give political ammunition to his rivals. (In 2012, Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid (D-NV) claimed that Republican presidential nominee Mitt Romney had not paid taxes for years, a claim that was given credibility by the media but had no basis in fact.)

Then the whole Maddow incident happened, which marked the beginning of the end for her terrible show. But it wasn’t long before Democrats made another play for Trump’s taxes.

In 2019, the New York Times claimed to have obtained “decades” of Trump’s tax returns. Though the paper reported that he shown “chronic losses and years of tax avoidance,” it could find nothing illegal or untoward.

As Breitbart News reported:

The Times story, if based on authentic documents, appears to debunk several conspiracy theories held by Democrats for years. The tax returns do not [show] “any previously unreported connections to Russia,” the Times reports. Moreover, the Times story appears to confirm Trump’s claim — long treated as an excuse by Democrats — that he is under audit by the IRS. And the Times could not find “any itemized payments to Mr. Cohen,” ostensibly the subject of the New York investigation [into hush money paid to porn star Stormy Daniels].

Nevertheless, Democrats tried to use their majority on the Ways and Means Committee, which writes tax legislation, to force Trump to release his returns, though there was no real legislative purpose in doing so.

Trump resisted the committee’s efforts in the courts, until finally losing at the Supreme Court, which allowed the Committee to compel the IRS to turn over the tax returns of Trump, now a private citizen.

The House Ways and Means Committee released the returns just days before Democrats formally lose their majority in the House of Representatives — and, with it, majority control of the various House committees.

The six years of newly-released returns, covering the years 2015 through 2020, show that Trump paid a total of $4.4 million in federal income taxes over that period, with an adjusted gross income of -$53.2 million. “The Trumps paid some form of federal taxes every year, but they reported income-tax liability of $750 or less in three of the six years,” the Wall Street Journal noted. Democrats point to some potential problems. They claim that Trump’s tax returns as president were not properly audited by the IRS (a claim the IRS disputes). They also complained about charitable deductions and whether loans to his children should have been taxed as income.

However, there appeared to be few bombshells. In a statement on Truth Social, his social media platform, the former president said the returns showed “how proudly successful I have been” and warned that “the Democrats should never have done it.”

Republicans echoed the latter sentiment, saying the release of the tax returns seemed to have a purely political motive, and opened the door for Republicans to do the same in future.

Clearly, Democrats didn’t play the smart hand.

Now, they’ve not only struck out, AGAIN, but they’ve angered conservatives who are sick and tired of these endless investigations and relentless witch hunts aimed at the former President. At the end of the day, the truth is absolutely transparent.

Trump didn’t cheat the American taxpayers. In fact, he has opted to pay more than the minimums he was required to pay. Further, Trump didn’t accept a salary when he was President. Instead, every single payout was forwarded to a charitable organization. I’m pretty sure that’s not what Biden, Pelosi, Schumer, or any of the other prominent leftists are doing. In fact, if Democrats really want to dig up some dirt, all they need to do is dig on their own side of the fence. It won’t take long to hit pay dirt on the left.
